Third generation coffees are the trend of recent years. With the introduction of coffee culture into our lives, many types of coffee have also become part of our lives. Different coffee brewing methods began to emerge from different countries. These methods distinguish themselves from others, sometimes with the way they are made, sometimes with the brewing time, and sometimes with the equipment used.
COFFEE POT
Coffee pot, one of the traditional coffee brewing methods, is a long-handled cooking pot made of aluminum, copper or zinc. Turkish coffee is made with a coffee pot.
FRENCH PRESS
French press is one of the most practical brewing methods. The French press, which is one of the methods that does not require the use of a paper filter, is a favorite of users who want to experience an intense and bitter coffee. It allows some of the oil formed during brewing to pass into the coffee. Thus, it creates a different taste. Providing a unique drinking sensation, the French press is one of the most preferred methods of brewing filter coffee in a glass.
POUR OVER
It is obtained by pour over method, distillation. It allows you to feel the deep taste of the coffee bean and the flow of water. The pour over technique was widely used in the 1900s and enabled the coffee culture to become widespread. Pour over method; It is the name given to brewing coffee by pouring water over it.
CHEMEX
Chemex, discovered as a laboratory device in America, later began to be used as a coffee filtering tool. It filters the coffee with the help of a special filter placed on it. Coffee brewed with Chemex is preferred because it has a soft drink. The filter and ground coffee are placed on the Chemex. Add hot water slowly in circles. Your coffee is prepared in approximately three to four minutes.
HARIO V60
V60, one of the most popular coffee brewing devices, is an equipment produced by the Hario brand. It is similar to chemex models in terms of usage and appearance. The 60-degree angle of the V60 increases the contact between water and coffee. The type of coffee that is ground has a huge impact on the strength of the coffee that will be made with this equipment. A strong drink can be obtained by brewing finely ground coffee with a slow water flow, and a soft drink can be obtained by brewing medium ground coffee with a continuous water flow. The coffee is ready to serve in approximately three minutes.
MOKA POT
Moka pot, which helps you brew a very intense and strong coffee, uses ground coffee beans suitable for making espresso and Turkish coffee. Moka pot, which can be called one of the espresso brewing methods considering the types of beans it is compatible with, is generally produced in the form of a metal or aluminum coffee pot. Moka pot, which allows you to prepare the strongest coffees without using a machine, can be preferred by those who want to make delicious coffees. Moka Pot is a tool that allows coffee to be brewed on the stove thanks to the pressure created by water vapor. All espresso-based coffees can be made with the help of MokaPot. Moka Pot provides the closest taste to the coffee that an espresso machine would make.
SYPHON
The Siphon technique, discovered by Germany, is a brewing system consisting of two parts. The brewing process is completed when the steam pressure pushes the heated water into the coffee in the other chamber. To brew coffee with the Siphon technique: A filter is placed on the top of the device and the hook underneath is attached to the tube part. Boiled water is poured into the lower chamber of the siphon and the heater is turned on. The other chamber is placed on top, slightly sideways. The chamber, which remains on its side until the water boils, is turned upright when it boils. It is recommended to brew the coffee at 94 degrees to prevent it from burning. The coffee is placed in the upper chamber and stirred with a stick until it becomes homogeneous. Mixing takes 3 seconds. The mixing process is applied again at the 45th and 90th seconds. After the final mixing process, the bottom of the heater is turned off. When the water in the upper chamber is completely drained, the upper chamber is removed and the brewed coffee is poured into the glass.
AEROPRESS
Aeropress brews coffee using pressure. The device with the filter inside is placed on the glass. Add finely ground coffee and hot water. The ideal amount for brewing with an Aeropress is to add 18 grams of coffee to 45 ml of water. A pressure apparatus is placed on the gently stirred coffee and pressure is created in a controlled manner. The coffee brewed as a result of the pressure flows into the glass placed below and coffee brewing is completed. Coffee brewed with the help of an aeropress, which was originally developed to produce coffee at an espresso setting, has a slightly higher density than filter coffees. Aeropress, which has a unique and intense taste, is an equipment suitable for transportation thanks to its dimensions. It is a logical choice for users who do not want to compromise on their coffee pleasure while traveling.
COFFEE MACHINES
Since brewing coffee takes a lot of time, machines, which are one of the practical brewing methods, are also preferred. The coffee machines are very simple to use. Once the tank of the coffee machine is filled with water and the desired amount of ground coffee, coffee beans or capsules is added, your drink starts to be prepared automatically. It’s a simple and quick method, but it doesn’t have as diverse a range of flavors as other coffee brewing methods. Apart from all these brewing methods, fast and delicious coffee can be easily obtained thanks to machines.
